Groovy Valentine

This "Groovy Valentine" bouquet is a great way to make a big deal of Valentine's Day!
Bouquet Labor: About 5 minutes
Helium: About 16.5 cu. ft.

Ingredients:

  • 1 9" "Valentine's Hearts & Circles" Microfoil® Heart Balloon
  • 1 3' "Hearts & Daisies-A-Round™" Ruby Red Latex Balloon
  • 1 11" Rose Latex Balloon
  • 1 11" Yellow Latex Balloon
  • 1 11" Lime Green Latex Balloon
  • 3 160Q Emerald Green Latex Balloons
  • 1 6" Citrine Yellow GEO Blossom® Latex Balloon
  • 1 6" Ruby Red Latex Heart Balloon
  • 1 6" Rose Latex Heart Balloon
  • #40 "Daisies & Ladybugs/White" Qualatex MasterBow® Poly Ribbon
  • #9 Ruby Red Qualatex MasterBow Poly Ribbon
  • 1 15 oz. "Daisies & Ladybugs" Qualatex Coordinates Tapered Ceramic Mug
  • Qualatex Hand Air Inflator
  • CUP-N-STICK® Balloon Holder
  • Monofilament Line
  • Plastic Foam
  • Cool Glue
  • Weight

Preparation:

  1. Helium inflate the 3' balloon, attach to monofilament line, and secure to a weight.
  2. Curl a 160Q by first fully inflating it, and releasing the air. Then, wrap the 160Q evenly around a cylinder, and air inflate it, leaving about 1" uninflated. Make two 1" pinch twists at the knot end of the 160Q. Air inflate a 6" Heart and tie it to the knot of the 160Q. Repeat for the remaining two 160Qs, the 6" Heart, and the 6" GEO Blossom. Tie the opposite ends of the 160Qs to the neck of the 3' balloon.
  3. Make a 3-balloon cluster with the 11" Yellow, Rose, and Lime Green balloons. (To make a cluster, inflate two of the 11" balloons and tie together to make a "duplet." Inflate the third 11" balloon and tie to the knot of the duplet.) Twist the cluster onto the neck of the 3' balloon.
  4. Glue a small piece of foam inside the mug.
  5. Place the weight inside the mug.
  6. Air inflate and heat seal the 9" Heart balloon and attach to the CUP-N-STICK balloon holder.
  7. For the bow, cut the #40 ribbon to half its width so it's the same size as the #9 Ruby Red ribbon. Tie the bow to the CUP-N-STICK balloon holder at the neck of the 9" balloon.
  8. Insert the CUP-N-STICK balloon holder into the foam.
  9. Wrap the monofilament line up through the bow so the line is centered behind the 9" Heart balloon.

SIDEBAR:
Pinch Twist
To make a pinch twist, create a 1" bubble. To make a bubble, pinch the balloon and twist it several times. Move 1" farther and make another twist, making sure to twist in the same direction both times. Loop your index finger under the bubble. Grasp the sides of the bubble with your thumb and index finger, and stretch it up until you can pinch the twists together. Remove your index finger, and twist the pinched bubble at least three times in one direction to secure it.
